  1. I have been using DVD Shrink 3.1 to backup my DVDs. I am trying to backup my copy of The Simpsons Season 2 episode DVDs. This is what I have been doing with DVD Shrink.

    1) Inserted Original DVD; Open DVD Shrink and press "Open Disk"
    2) Unchecked the French Audio. I can't speak French.
    3) Pressed "Backup" button.
    4) Took about 1.5-2 hours to encode.
    5) DVD Shrink encoded the files in a folder called "VIDEO_TS"; there was another folder "AUDIO_TS" that was empty.
    6) Used Roxio DVD Creator, I copied both "VIDEO_TS" and "AUDIO_TS" folders with their respective files.

Am I doing anything incorrectly? My burner is a TDK 440n and my DVD player is a JVC. I have used Memorex DVD-R and Verbatim DVD-R and neither has produced a playable backup. A computer can read the files on the DVD, but my JVC DVD Player and my Playstation 2 cannot. The odd part is, I have successfully backed up my copy of "Fight Club", but these disks are giving me problems. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

Your DVD player might not be compatible with burned DVDs. As for your playstation, I dont know what to say. It seems like they would work.

  3. jokimon,

    Two things to try:

    1. Different software
    2. Lower burn speed

I was in the similar situation. I have 2 Panasonic players CP67 and A110. I used Ritek G04 and G03 disks, LiteOn 451 burner with Nero 6 and RecordNow Max 4.5.

Disks burned at 4x got No Play message with CP67 and play with a lot of pixelations and freezing on A110.

Disks burned at 2x play better on both players but still have pixelations and freezing, more on CP67 than on A110.

I could not set to burn at 1x so returned the LiteOn 451.

My JCV GD 523 DVD standalone is very happy with either DVD-r or DVD+r produced the same way as yours.
Too bad it clearly states in the manual that it wont play +/-r's!!!!
Whats yr model ?? Maybe you can check compatibility in the link 'DVD players' on yr left!!

P.S. Maybe try Nero 5.5 for the burning (UDF 1.02)??
