  1. Hey everyone,

Hopefully someone can help. I'm running a 1.25 G4 IMAC with DVD burner, and simply trying to do two things.

    1. Turn dvds into vcds. I have dvdbackup and forty two, and can't seem to get forty two to work. (it also takes so long to test). I rip the dvds, then use forty two and in the BURN WHAT'S IN HERE FOLDER there's never anything! Very annoying. Advice?

    2. the second thing I need / want to do, is either in DVD or VCD form, mix different chapters from different dvds together. How can i do that?

I have forty two, dvd backup, ffmpegx( so confusing) and dvd2one. but really don't know how and getting confused. Tried sizzle as well without any luck.

    please help.

    thanks

wow... just out of curiosity, you are doing DVD to VCD because?
if you got a superdirve and all why not make dvd's

but per your questions the empty burn whats in here is an old issue... and that was supposedly fixed but apparently not with the plain version of 42. There are more advanced versions of 42 (forty-two dvdmpplus for example) which for me seem to produce the files you need.

the issue of your other question is doable, but you would need to get your hands wet a little more with ffmpegx and sizzle.

i suggest using OSeX to rip a single chapter rather than large files so you can practice with the apps. Much easier to use a small file that takes a few min for processing than does one that takes longer.

    does this help you ?!

  3. Well I want vcds, because I also can't find a cheap way of making backup dvds!

Are you saying that osex allows you to just rip certain chapters?

are you saying the price for dvd2one is too high and thats what is limiting you from making the backup?

believe me the cost is well worth it (as you are finding out) its a doable but time consuming thing to do what you want and at that its not the best quality for output.

    yes OSeX can rip chapters.

just put the check next to those you want, and no check next to those you dont want

OSeX you can even choose your output type
    .vob
    .m2v and .ac3
    dvd folder
    dvd image

    its got lots of freedom
