  1. Can anyone help? I have a NEC 1300a writer that I have successfully used many times to burn DVD Video to my Bulkpaq Orange DVD-R discs , using Nero. However, I recently upraded the NEC firmware to version 109. Since then, I get an error "SCSI/ATAPI write error", shortly after the burning comences. The dics then becomes a worthless coaster.

I doubt it is the firmware upgrade that has caused this - and in any case, I have even tried going back to the old version but have the same problem.

Someone suggested that the error has to do with a communication breakdown between the software and my writer. Does anyone know how I can resolve this problem? Oh, and with the greatest of respect, please try not to state the obvious, like try another software burning programme etc, etc....I tried this prior to using this forum. Thanks.

  2. Comments only:
From what i've seen around the board, more than just a few NEC-Nero compatability problems - seems like the two companies are having problems getting on the same "music sheet" concerning respective upgrades/firmware.

Also, most burner firmware upgrades - once flashed - are not reversable.
Perhaps NEC units are different, but think that would be worth a recheck on your unit.

if no more help here and you have already tried other apps, then looks like your only course is to appeal to both nec and nero support for a solution.
