Switching zone

I am totally ignorant about electronics and I really have no clue as to what "warez" means, so I do hope I am not asking for it.
Here is a question for a French friend who bought a CH-LDV 707B in the States: she needs a code to switch the DVD player from Zone 1 DVDs to Zone 2 DVDs in order to play it in France.

Warez would be "I have just downloaded a movie off the internet that hasn't even come out in the cinema yet from highlyillegalmovies.com that's got copywrite messages all over it and I'd like to remove them and by the way it's in Xvid format what do I need to burn that will Nero do it and if so where can I get a hacked serial number for that and where can I download scans of the covers from so it looks genuine so I can run off copies for all my mates and sell them on e-Bay".

I think that's pretty much covered Warez...
