    Not quite true..

    run

    mplayer dvd://$1 -dumpstream

    from the commandline, changing $1 to the title number you wish to read.

    then run ffmpegX with stream.dump as the input file and proceed as before...

    ffmpegX still doesn't decode the DVD, that's mplayer...
