    hi,
i am now running xp pro on my computer and i am getting along fine with it apart from one thing. its not a big problem but it annoys me so much. what it is, when there are more than 4 windows open at once the xp pro seems to put them all under one section on the task bar. i have to click on the minimized window and a list of open windows comes up and i need to select the one i want to display. i prefer the old way of displaying open windows in the task bar ala windows 98 and me where the open windows are displayed all across the bottom of the taskbar. does anybody know if i can set my xp pro to display the open windows so that they list across the taskbar rather than bunch together like that?

  2. I can see how this could be annoying but you quickly get used to it but to disable this
    1. right click on a blank part ov the task bar then properties
2.in task bar and start menu deselect GROUP SIMALAIR TASKBAR BUTTONS

It appears that the CPU was operating so fast that it began to execute instructions before they arrived. This execution of future instructions created a small tear in space-time itself through which part of the cpu passed into a parallel universe

    damn... that's a great tip.

what if you want to drag shortcuts to the taskbar? I never have problems doing it with Win98, but I can't seem to get it to work with XP....

    what am I missing?

  5. Do you mean shortcuts to the QuickLaunh bar? You have to make sure the task bar is 'unlocked'. Right click and uncheck lock the taskbar.

    - If that's what were you asking.

i had that problem housepig, if you make the taskbar a bit higher you can then drag the quicklaunch bar underneath it and drag your icons onto it. that way your icons are along the bottom of the screen, that was the first thing i sorted out with windows xp as i also used to do that when i was running win me.
