  1. I do not know enough about firmware updates. but before I do it I like to research this topic. LG has a firmware listed as A302, at present I may not be burning at 4X as per many posts have stated. I am concerned to upgrade because it may cause other problems. I also do not know the configuration of the system in detail. I do know that the LG drive is the master, but I do not know what the second CD/DVD reader is set at. My back up DVD's all 10 play well in my Apex, Sony PS2 and Samsung DVD Player. What to do...I need someone who understands this stuff to help me figure this one out.

    Thank you

AND....I have one with A300 firmware. Not a bad burn yet(I'm guessing 40). But I don't use Xcopy.

It's not like I WONT use Xcopy....I just have NO idea what it is..
I am a huge fan of DVDShrink (2.3), DVDDecrypter , IFOEdit and TMGPEnc DVD Author. All except DVD Author are FREE too.
I did flash firmware on my Samsung CDR/DVD Rom drive once...but won't do it on my LG....It works too well to muck with right now.

  6. Xcopy Platinum is a complete integrated package which only requires 3-4 clicks to back up a DVD (there are some issues with the software, but not many). I am not sure If I can post the name of the software vendor but its easy to find. Its expensive $150.00 Canadian. However, I have read a post in here that mentioned the software. I like it, its easy and I only have been burning for a few days now. I did not want to go through a learning delay. DVDhelp seems to be a pretty good place to learn, but I have no time to really get into it. The reason why I burn now is that I had an original DVD ruined on me and the manufacturer basically told me to bad so sad. It was my 5 year olds and I was the only one who put the DVD on for him. Daddies fault....The kicker is that it was a Christmas gift from Santa last xmas 2002 and I was over the 90 day return by 10 days....Anyhow off topic and back to firmware updates. I am told that the new firmware will speed things up. I think that I can wait the extra 10 minutes since everything works well right now.
