  1. I have posted this on PVR250 forums and have not had any responses, can anyone help out here?

I have not had any problems with WinTV Scheduler until a couple of days ago. When I try to save I get an error message: "Could Not Create Program". I have uninstalled, reinstalled, rebooted, uninstalled, and installed the lastest version listed in this forum and nothing helps. I have even used hcwclear.exe to unistall all PVR drivers, checked for any conflicts, then reinstalled all software. When I opened WinTV Scheduler to try again, the programs that I had previously, successfully I might add, scheduled were still in there. Maybe it is a registery problem??

Nothing has worked, I still can not schedule a program to record. I have even opened Scheduler, clicked "Add Program" then clicked "Save Program" without making any changes to the default screen and I still get the error message.

By the way, the version number for scheduler.exe on my machine is 1.07.0079 even though I installed HCW Scheduler 1.07.21034 (which was downloaded from this forum and from the Hauppauge site..I tried both after uninstalling the previous install just to make sure).

    Can anyone help?

    PVR Driver: 1.17.390.21283
    WinTV2K: 4.2.21342 (yesterday was 4.2.21315)
MPEG Decoder: ver 4 release 21154

  2. try an "all forums" search (see page top) for WinTV Scheduler .. browse the results to see what others have said/done.

I pulled this topic up on a precise Google search for the error that the WinTV scheduler pogram throws up (Could not create program). It was one of 8 results with all the ohters being the Hauppauge FAQ (which was totally useless). I want to help any other poor person who gets nailed with this awful glitch. I had the exact same problem as the original poster where the scheduler refused to make a new program. I actually made 2 new programs and went to make the 3rd and no go. This is all in one session so all the Hauppauge faq stuff was completely inapplicable as it is stuff like "is the Windows scheduler running" and I sure as heck did not manage to miraculously disable the scheduler between creating programs in a single sitting...

Anyway, To make a very long and painfull story short (software reinstall, system restore, service pack install registry scouring etc....) the trick to unstick it was to edit an existing program. I just ticked the start time back one minute (I imagine any change to any part would do the trick) save the edited change and VOILA! The scheduler would then accept creating new programs.

Although I certainly love the fact that the PVR-250 actually works (as opposed to the ATI TV-wonder that I had no luck with). Hauppauge really needs to improve their software. The scheduler is unstable enough that I have the system on an automated daily reboot as if I don't, the scheduler becomes unstable after a couple of days and this is on an older PIII system that has never given one (not one) moment of grief (NEVER had a BSOD etc...) so it's the blinking scheduler software that is the culprit. Grrrrr....

  4. I agree Hauppauge needs to improve their software.
That's why most PVR owners are using 3rd party stuff, that works much better.
Try GB-PVR, or MediaPortal, both free.
