Hello guys,
I found no information about this topic anywhere, so I state my question here:
How do I add the running time or better the time of day into AVIs?
(like the time you can see on tapes from security cameras or homecams you know)
example: http://www.cstrike.de/screens/screens/screen-1065634927.jpg
Maybe there is a filter for VirtualDub but I haven't found none.
thanks for you help

If the AVI is DV, it already has a time stamp. You only need a program like DVTimeStamp make the video display it. However, if you are producing a video a la 24, you may want to use three programs: Video Studio, Xnote Stopwatch, and CamStudio.
Run the stopwatch with the time you want displayed, while capturing it with CamStudio. Take the captured Stopwatch video, and use Video Studio to display it overlaying the primary video.
Of course, the problem here is that the "clock"'s background is opaque. So if you have the patience, you can make a subtitle that displays the same data, and use the subtitler filter in VDub for an even better effect.
I think I am going to have to do a tutorial, as I see this question more than I think I should.

How long do you want the time/date to be displayed in your video?
Hello. -
well I hope you don't misunderstood me.
I don't want the actual time in the video but the time when the video was recorded.
The whole movie length would be nice.

Is the video DV type 1 or 2, how long is the video, and what date/time does it start?
Hello. -
It isn't any type of DV captured through firewire or something like that.
I just got an avi-file and I want to insert a running clock into the video.
The video is about 5 hours long and was captured by my webcam. It shows a part of my house and I want to insert the time so I can easily scroll to the time I want to. Without the time I allways have to calculate with the recording time and the running time to find out which time belongs to f.e. 3h11m42s.Athlon XP1800, 256 SD-Ram PC 133, 80GB 7200upm HDD, Win2000 SP3 -
