  1. Hi world,

While trying to back up a episode DVD, I was faced with the following problem:

    (1) Used DVD Decrypter to extract all files in the File mode
    (2) Tried using DVD Shrink 3.1(also older version) to shrink the files. But I am unable to shrink more than the automatic setting(which is 60% or so).Hence, I have a total of 4.921 MB and not able to burn. I have attached the screen shot.

Can't I shrink further(I can't seem to update the manual option in DVD Shrink also) to burn this?? Any suggestions as to what can be done to achieve this?

    Thanks.

I don't mean to state the obvious, but you did change that dropdown menu from automatic to manual correct?

Stop trying to do the impossible? It can't be done, deal with it.

It's an episodic disk, RTFG on how to split it onto 2 disks. You trying to convert 8.6 GB to 4.3 GB which is 50% out of the gate, see the problem? Do you think it's going to look anygood with that much compression?

Alternately you can shrink it twice, but it will look like crap.

  4. Thanks for the reply guys. Yeah, I did change the pulldown from automatic to manual, but was unable to change from 60.8% to anything below.

You are right about the quality part though. I will refer to the guide for splitting into two disks anyway. But just wanted to explore the possibility of burning into one disk actually.

    Any inputs are welcome.

DVD2ONE is capable of higher compression ratios than DVD Shrink. Try it and it may compress to 4.37 on one pass. Video quality is subjective.

I have found that dvd-shrinking again works, most of the time.
So shrink first to hard disk and then shrink again using the files option.
