  1. A friend can't open a DV-AVI file with virtual dub but can play it with media player. Does he need a vfw to wdm wrapper? Where do you get one these days?
Is there a better choice for basic editing of DV_avi?

I just use the Panasonic codec, works great with Virtualdub. Believe it only accepts DV type 2, though. There is a converter. Both of these are in the 'Tools' section to the left. There are a lot of editors that work with DV, but Virtualdub is on of the few free ones that will do simple editing.
