Hi, is there a site, or article that will tell me how the dvds you buy in the store are created? Obviously they're not burned like we do at home. The technology is completely different. But I'd like to know how it's done. Would an authoring drive you can buy for the home be a similar technology?
Thanks in advance

Great link. What's funny is that someone posted somewhere on here that you can polish/fix the bottom of a disc with sandpaper just like that guy said and everyone told him he was nuts.Originally Posted by ligg1980

Well if you`re gonna sandpaper anything with a 1mm thickness to useless
then you are nuts. -
Hey! That's Scott Mueller! I got some of this booksOriginally Posted by ligg1980

Yes, if you sandpaper it to useless. But obviously they can be "fixed" that way. I guess that's how those CD/DVD fixer devices work...not that I've ever had to or ever would try it myself...unless I was desperate, of course, haha.Originally Posted by johns0

Hey come on - its only plastic and can be polished just like a watch glass (the old kind anyway) - Light scratches can even be removed with tooth paste !
Sandpaper is exagerating of course, the finest you can get is what you need and afterwards some good chrome or silver polish.
Don't place the disc on a hard surface though - when the top gets scratched you've had it
