  1. To who ever can help me.
My brother bought a DVD burner and he has been testing it on movies he owns and they have been coming out perfect. So I gave him a movie that I compiled from some clips I have and asked him to burn it to DVD for me. When he goes to burn them however, instead of it compressing the data to the desired size (or format) to fit on a DVD it jumps it up so that it is more than what the DVD will hold. I know you’re like what is he talking about. Well for example say a DVD only holds 1GB well when he goes to burn it, it gives back a (disk write error). That states, that instead of the data to be written to the DVD being 1GB or less, it’s now like 1.5GB which is a bit more than what the DVD will hold.
Now this is a mystery to me considering in the format I gave him the movie it only takes up about half a CD-R. HELP!!!
The movie I gave my brother was encoded using ASFtools and when I played it on windows media player 9 I paused it clicked file than properties and the Video Codec: is WMP-9, MPEG-4, Video V3, and the Audio Codec: is WMP-9, 48kbps, 44kHz, mono (a/v) 1-pass CBR.
I have TMPGEnc, VirtualDub, and ASFTools 3.1. I combined the Clips using Windows moviemaker 2. I tried using Roxio’s moviemaker function but did not like that one too much.
Now I do not know the make and module of my brothers DVD burner, but I know he uses DVD Copy, My DVD, and he has Easy CD, DVD Creator 5 Deluxe (even though he has not used it yet).
Do I need to re-encode the move into another format and if so what format and what program/s should I/we use to accomplish this tour de force. Thank you for any assistance you can give. And i am sorry if this is the wrong topic for this forum. Thanks again

Check the guides on the left ( <--------- ) to see how to convert Divx (aka MPEG4) to either VCD (if you want your brother to make a DVD-VCD), or DVD.

    Good luck

No problem. If you have problems converting the DivX to MPEG, I'd check out the "newbie conversion", or 'advanced conversion" forums...
