I use Tmpg plus to convert .avi to .mpg but i can never seem to get the picture size just right. Either the sides are cut off or everything is stretched vertically. Can anyone explain to me a way to get the normal picture size or what the settings mean when you can choose between wide or full screen while in the wizard mode? Thanks in advance.

You can always test all settings in tmpgenc and use the file->preview to see how it looks. For downloaded avi files(divx/xvid...) I always use 4:3 and under advanced 1:1 and keep aspect ratio.
