I have a 700Mb avi file encoded with divx. It looks great but if I try and do any kind of compression to it the file size gets bigger and the video looks like crap. I just need to get it to fit on a cd. any ideas?
Thanks

Write the file to a CD as a data file , the burner doesn't care what
kind of file it is if it's data .
Of course it wont play on anything but your computer -
It's just slightly too big to fit on a cd I need to take like 20-30 meg off.

you can probably overburn that much onto a cd if you are burning the file directly as data.

I'd try the overburn thing first. You can demux the audio and trim some there if you haft to. You can load the file in VirtualDub and trim off the credits or whatever then set it for 'direct stream copy' and save it as a new file. I can think of several ways to get the file size down without trying to reencode the video again.

I tried the mode 2 thing and it said simulating and then spit the blank disc out. I'm using nero 6.

once you have your project set up go to file>preference and click the expert features tab. the option is there.

I just got virtual dub and I have my in and out set. Now what?

Ok I got the credits chopped off and the file size is down to 685mb. But when I go to burn it does a speed measurement and then writes a simulation. Why is it not writing the disc?
