  1. I recently brought a cheap beginners card (wintv go) for my first capping attempts everything was going fine making pal vcds untill i tried to change the capture resolution on virtual dub to make a PAL SVCD (480x576). I get an error message (Error 418:unsupported video format) is there anyway to fix this so I can cap at high resolution?

  4. You can try updating the WDM drivers found in the tools section, but for me it was pointless becaus I kept dropping a lot of frames on different resolutions and codecs, but maybe you'll have better luck than I did. Hope this helps.

I will overlook the "cheap beginner's card" remark about the WinTV Go card, as I still have it installed in my system for nostalgia, as it captured some of my family's best moments here in Europe. Anyway, if it does not want to capture at that resolution, you may want to settle for a lower resolution.

But why settle? You may want to try the Conextant video drivers to get a higher resolution capture, as it worked for me, until I moved on up to DV and Pyro A/V Link.
    Hello.

you need the wdm drivers from sourceforge to capture higher resolutions. works great but you might drop frames like crazy. http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=38123&package_id=30968&release_id=205649 or http://btwincap.sourceforge.net/

If you use win2k or winXP you can't use Virtualdub for capturing without some tweaking (if at all....)
You basicly need to read at virtualdub's homepage of how to do this

The wdm drivers some users mention here, simply don't work with virtualdub without the use of a wraper

Of course, Hauppauge germany has some drivers to offer for win2K, a bit buggy (the field order mess up all the time...), you can downloaded them and try them.
The card you have, winTV GO, is among the good ones for analogue to digital convertion the "traditional" way. IMHO always.
With a variation of this card (wintv primio fm), I can grabb any framesize using win2K at my second PC, no framedrops, excellent quality.
