    Greetings.
Is an mpeg file generated by capture card made by company X the same standard as a file made by company Y's capture card? (settings the same in each)

I ask because I have an Adaptec VideOh! Media Center USB 2.0 that I captured video from a Hi8 camera. Win DVR 3 is the only program in existance that mates with this stupid thing and I have since discovered the program is very limited. I selected mpeg-2 in a "better" format which I believe is around 3000 bit sample rate. (if I misstate I am new to this ie dummy).
The program captured just fine and saved the files with an "mpeg" file extension.

The MyDVD and Showbiz programs that came bundled with the card are limited so I tried to pull the raw files into Pinnacle Studio 8 to splice and edit. When trying to open the file, Pinnacle's defaulted open file types do not see the mpeg files. I tried the *.all files and it will see it but not pull it in. Gives me a file missmatch error.

If I change the file extension to .mpg, Pinnacle will load it, play it but with no audio.

What could be the difference in the files? The captured files play just fine with audio an all the media players I have.
If at first you don't succeed, maybe failure is just your style.....

See if your file will demux properly into a video (.M2V) and an audio stream (.WAV or .MPA). If so, then remux them back into an .MPG file.

I suspect problems with Pinnacle if the other programs will play your files properly.

What program/procedure can I use to do the demix/remix?

I'm not able to remux those "mpeg" files from winDVR myself using TMPGenc.
Mpeg2vcr also don't open those files to fix them.
The problem is basicly on the segment files: The first one always work.
I would like to find a solution on this, winDVR is the best on terms of quality for realtime software solution with typical analogue in cards.

I end up using older versions of winDVR to solve this issue, but this is not the solution...
