  1. Using XP, LG GSA 4040b buner and Toshiba DVD Rom with DVD Shrink 3.1. First burn, thought wow this is great. Since, I always get error in the middle of shrinking (before the burn) that says "Data error (cyclic redundancy check)" and process is stopped. Files that were done to this point are stored in their temp location. Tried many different DVD's. Any ideas?

  2. probably an error in decrypting dvd...use DVD Decrypter first, then shrink.

Clean your DVD and try again. It's probably a scratch, use the toothpaste method.

  6. thanks for all the help. Same error regardless of what DVD I try to copy. DVD Decrypter fails in the middle also. Thinking mother board or drive?

  7. I'm curious about the toothpaste method too -- or is there a less drastic method?

(I use a 3M microfiber cloth specifically made for CD/DVD cleaning, but that doesn't work very well. Someone told me to use Formula 409, but that seems extreme...)

Also, when the "cycle redundancy check" error happens toward the end of DVD Shrink's analysing period, does this mean the scratch is at the outer or inner part of the media?

    Thanks in advance.

CD's and DVD's are read from the inside out, so if there are read errors toward the end of the analysing, I would imagine them to be toward the edge of the disc.
