  1. Hi,

I am pretty new to this so please bare with me if i get something really easy wrong!

I had a .Bin and .CUE file so I used ISObuster to extract the .mpg file out like some of the guides tell you.

The movie was spanned over a few VCD's so i got all the .mpg's in one folder and then opened TMPGenc.

I added them all together using the edit/merge option. So now i have a large .mpg file. (1.8GB)

I then went back into TMPGenc to encode it to the correct details for DVD.
    Which was:
    MPEG-2, 720x576, 25FPS, CBR 1150Kbps, Layer-2 44100Hz 192Kbps

After about 4 hours it finished and I still had a 1.8GB mpg file.

So now went into Sonic MyDVD and imported the MPG.
And it was rather too big for one DVD! like 3.4GB over the 4.7GB disc!

So what can I do to reduce this and place it on one DVD?

Any help would be much appreciated!

  2. First. If the framerate of the mpeg is 29.97 (NTSC) or 25(PAL), you do not need to re-encode the video for DVD. The resolution of VCD is also valid for DVD.

If the framerate is 23.97fps (NTSC film) you will need to re-encode to 29.97fps. This will result in slightly jerky playback but you are pretty much stuck with it.

You will also need to re-sample the audio to 48khz.

If you look in the guides there are several mentioning methods of putting VCD on to DVD. I suggest you do some reading.

That will look awful, the bitrate is far too low for that resolution. Also the audio is the wrong sample rate for DVD.
