Converting avi to AC3 using Besweet or ffmpegGUI

So i tried this conversion last night. Firstly using Besweet and I just got an error with no file written.

Then I tried FFmpeggui and it seemed to work okay. Except right at the end I got the application error dialogue box from windows XP. Once I'd closed that box out I get the message from FFmpeggui that the conversion was complete.

The ouput of FFmpeggui was a decent file size 25Mb of audio. I open it up and find it is only 20 minutes or so of my original 110 minute .avi.

I tried this a couple of times and got the same result. I tried ffmpeggui without the GUI and it wouldn't run on my XP OS.

Anybody got a clue as to what is going on? Anybody recommend any other avi to ac3 converters?

Try convert the audio to wav with virtualdub or goldwave.
