  1. I have been experimenting with burning dvd's for playback in my Sony 705 dvd player. I have a Ricoh DVD burner and have used Nero Vision Express to re-encode and burn mpeg files to a dvd+r and dvd+rw.

The problem I have is that when I play this disc back in my DVD player, I find it freezes in certain sections. The lcd counter stops so I know it isn't a flaw in the actual file.

I am spending lots of time and money and getting nowhere.

Time for some advice from the experts!!

  2. Have you checked your player against the compatibility lists on the left of the screen. Maybe you need to use -R(W)!

What media are you using. There can be a huge difference in performance between different media.

I too have a sony DVD player and have found most success using DVD-R(W) and using Ritek G04 dye blank media.

    Good luck!

  3. If your Sony player is the NS705V then it won't play DVD+R or DVD+RW , the NS705 will play back all flavors of DVDR.

My guess is you need to try another brand of media. Also to check out if it's a disc problem or a player problem just take the discs into a store and try it on different players or have a friend try it on their player.

  4. It is a 705V and does play the dvd+r's fine. Unfortunately they seem to freeze up every now and again. Also get pixelation and a green bar comes across.

    Weird???

I wouldn't call that playing fine

Try a different brand of media.
