  1. Ok, so I've had a DVR-103 (Compaq) for a couple years now and just decided to start using it to write DVDs. Before doing so I upgraded the firmware to v1.90. I created my first DVD with no problems at all. Works flawlessly. I go to burn a 2nd one today and I get nothing but errors. Not matter what I do it will not write. Yet It still plays DVDs, and still writes CD-Rs and CD-RW with no problem. Has anyone else had this problem and know how I can fix it. This is the log of the error Nero gives me. I've tried other programs to write DVDs and it errors out on all of them.

    Cheap Media. Try another brand, or work through the pack until you find one that works.

    You may want to update to firmware 2.00, as it is the newest available. Though 1.9 did fix some problems with 4x media, 2.00 cures most of them.

  3. Thanks for the help. I've tried upgrading to firmware 2.0 a couple times. But it never works. The only one available is 1.9 from compaq's website. I got 2.0 off another website and recieved this msg.

    /// DVD-ROM/DVD-RW Firmware Update Utility Ver1.25C

    Start updating the device No.1.
    Current Revision>> PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-103 1.90 02/06/05

  4. I have exactly the same problem. I upgraded my drive to 1.90 as well and now I cannot upgrade to firmware version 2.0 neither can burn any DVD. I have tried Nero and Roxio both. I use maxwell DVD-R, I payed $15 for 5disks, so this is not cheap media. Any one knows what could be the problem.

    Thanks,

  5. AS soon as you screw with your firmware you're cooked. That's the problem. About 30% of the problems reported on this forum result from people flashing their DVD burner firmware.
    Look around and see if you can find a utility to downgrade your firmware back to what it was. Never ever ever ever ever upgrade or hack your firmware. It's just not worth the hassles.
