Hello all,
i have another simple question, I hope. This past weekend I upgraded to Win XP home from Win 98SE. That is not my problem. Here it is:
When I was using WIN 98 my dial-up modem did not make any noise when it connected to the web. No dial tone, dialing, nothing. Now that I upgraded to XP the modem is making noise again. Is there anyway to turn it off? I'm not too familiar with the workings of XP yet.
Thanks in advance,
Mike

In classic veiw I think it's:
Start
control panel
modems
uncheck - play sound when dialing or it's under the sound control panel -
In modem properties, you should have a slide bar that increases-decreases the volume. Personally, with dial up, I liked to hear the modem talk to the other machine, at least I know it has dialed out.

Thanks for the reply. It works and now it is all quiet again!! I personally don't care if it is on or off but when you have a 21 month old daughter across the hallway napping, I can use every opprotunity to keep things quiet.
