  1. Just when you thought you could get your hands on dual layer DVD+R drives by spring 2004, in comes the DVD+RW Alliance announcement of the dual layer DVD+RW format. So, do you go for 8x DVD+R burner now or wait til dual layer DVD+R burner comes out or wait til dual layer DVD+RW burner comes out? Decisions, decisions... :P

  2. Interesting that Sony have announced that they will launch a 2.4x DVD+RW DL drive ---note only the +RW format............Can or will there be dual format dual layer drives??

Sony seem to be firmly on the fence again regarding the formats-having introduced chasing playback(DVD-RW) on their new DVDRecorders but at the same time introducing DVD+R capability.

I seem to remember an article from a mutual acquaintance that told us Sony would remove DVD-RW and DVD-R from its future set-top recorders, and then re-instate the stripped out +RW recording features, however while they have added +R support, they have added another reason to use DVD-RW. How far in the future was he talking about

Then again I seem to remember you, stating 13 months ago, that any manufacturer would be mad to adopt +RW for set top recorders other than Philips.
There are quite a few now, with LG the latest to launch +/- dual format set tops.
Cirrus logic had shipped 1 million chips for +RW set tops by December.

Then again, we've all be proved wrong in our predictions in this game haven't we?
