  1. whew, glad to see I wasn't losing my mind up there..

    Ripper: FAT32 has its place, sometimes. When I was deciding to yet again give linux another whirl for the 5th or 6th time, I kept things at fat32 so I could still use the drives. After saying f it one last time though I wiped out all but one of them I think and lumped them into a big ntfs.

    But if you stick to windows 2k/xp, I see no reason to use FAT32

  2. You are correct!! I certainly do agree. I was thinking of the WIN NT/2000/XP-only user.

    In a multi-OS situation FAT32 is the way to go if you want a "near universal" filesystem. Great if you want NT/2000/XP and Linux to access the same drive/partition data. Saves redundant application installs under MULTI-WINDOWS and allows access to data and space for Linux.

    I guess I've developed a case of MS Myopia !!
