  1. Hello,
I had done some searching around here and found some methods to 'try' but alas none of them worked for me and I would like to know anyone else's success in doing the following:

I have a double sided DVD, the movie "Goodfellas", and wanted to combine both sides and burn to a DVD.

I first tried DVDShrink 3.0 beta and also DVDShrink 3.1. I ripped both sides and used the re-author feature but it treats each side as a separate movie/track. When attempting to play in WinDVD only the first side plays. (I can select side B manually but that's not what I wanted).

I really wanted to combine both sides as one track/movie as it should be, and have the chapters increment correctly from side A to B.

I also tried moving the VOB files from side B with the side A VOB's and renaming the side B to the next sequence from side A. (ie. If side A VOBs were _01, _02, and _03, I renamed side B VOB's to _04, _05, and _06 so that they were all in sequence). I then used IFOEdit to recreate the IFO files but that didn't work either. It still treated the side A/B VOB's as 2 separate tracks/movies.

The only thing that worked was to use the TMpegEnc (sp?) program to acutally "combine" the 2 sides. This worked good and I was finally able to burn the DVD, which worked well.

Is this the only way to actually combine a movie such as this one which is on 2 sides (or movies that span across 2 DVD's)?

    Thanks!

  2. Use VOBMerge to merge the separate VOB's into 1 and then run IFOEdit to create the IFO for the single merged VOB file.

The best way by far for me was to use DVD2ONE.

First Rip all of Side 1 to a folder, then do the same for side 2 but put this into a seperate folder.

Then use DVD2ONE to join both sides to together choosing Video Audio and Subtitles if needed, and using the seamless option as well for the join.

You must RIP All of the files of both sides for DVD2ONE to work correctly.

You could rip both sides to separate folders, load them into TMPGENC author to create the new VOB/IFO structure (even a generic menu), then load it into dvdshrink.
