  1. Hi,
I have been having a major problem with Goldwave. I have been doing Div-x to SVCD conversion and have seperate audio and video files. I have been having sync problems after encoding and have narrowed the problem down to the fact the audio is running slower then the video stream. So I have been trying to use Goldwaves Time Warp effect to increase the speed so it equals with the video. But whenever I do this it ill reach about 13% done and I will get a error message saying "Error- Could not write to file. No Storage available or device not ready". I'm sure I have enough HD space as I have 1.8 gigs on E: drive which is where Goldwave is installed. Unless it uses C: drive with which I have only 200mb but i assume it will use the drive with which the program is installed in. Any help would be greatly appreciated and i know if I can fix this I will also fix the sync problem.

    Thanks Ben

your problem may be that you assume that it uses your E drive. It is quite easy to check your settings where you save the file to and change it as needed

You need to go to the Options pulldown menu in Goldwave's toolbar and select "Storage..." to open a window that shows what type of temporary storage is used (RAM or Harddrive). You can use this window to select which hard drive Goldwave uses for temporary storage.

  4. Hi,
Thank you for your replies. I got Goldwave working and made the audio faster so it matched the video. But when I muxed them together using TMPGenc the audio is still out of sync with the video, from the very start of the movie and it actually seems to have gotten worst. Does anyone know what I could do to fix this problem as I have been trying for days now in all different methods which are explained on this forum. Any help would be HUGELY appreciated.

    Thanks Again

You need to put in (or remove) an audio delay at the very beginning of your audio. Once you correct that then you can "time warp" as necessary. I use Virtualdub to adjust the delay. Load in your avi and then use "wav audio" to load in your original wav file. Under audio>interleaving>audio delay you can adjust the audio positive or negative. Play the file in VDub in the main window to see if you've got it right and adjust as necessary. Set the audio and video to direct stream copy then save avi. Use goldwave on the avi again if you need to stretch the sound. Hope that helps.

  6. Hi,
Im still having problems if my video is running at 1:36:28:825 and my audio is running at 1:36:28:632 what should I do in the interleaving section of virtualdub? I've done as you said and I minused 193ms from the audio (as virtual dub said that minus is for early audio and postive for late audio) via the delay audio track in the audio skew correction part in the interleaving options. After saving it as an avi via direct stream copy method. I opened the .avi file in GoldWave to find that the audio was now 1:36:28:439 and the video was still the original length. Thus I used the TimeWarp and added the 386ms to the audio to get it up to speed. When trying to save it the program said that it can only save as .wav which I did.
In TMPGEnc I used the audio as the .wav created by GoldWave and the video as the file that I muxed together in virtualdub. I still found that the audio was slower then the video when playing the completed mpeg file. Should I be using a different program then TMPGEnc? Is it because of the VBR sound? Have I done something wrong while fiddling with the audio? I know i've nearly got this problem licked and I just need some final advice. As I've said in previous emails any help will be Extremely appreciated.

    Thanks Again

  7. Sorry I forgot to say that in the interleaving option in virtualdub, the following option are set in the "audio block placement section". The preload the ms of audio before video starts is set to 500 and the interleave audio every (frames) or (ms) is set to 1 on frames. Theres are defaults, should I leave as is?

    Thanks Again
