When I capture an avi with vdub from a vhs, I get this hiss noise or extra like background noise. This does not happen when I use the same settings for live capture or from a vhs that is commercially produced ( like one ya rent or buy). I have a wintv go card, I use audio select,I checked the audio level, nothing fixes the problem. I used cool edit like cart wheel said, but no matter how much I zoom here and there and everywhere, I don't see the almost straight line that represents hiss. for some reason If I use my crappy USB Dazzle dvcII there is no hiss, but after encoding there is an Echo like an extra loud digitized echo noise. after I encoded a vdub capture, there is still the hiss, I've used all the noise filters in vdub and on tmpgenc, still no good results. Before I used to have a problem with the video, now I got the video looking good, but now the audio is giving m a problem. if you go to http://briefcase.yahoo.com/bc/nick101181 I have a clip with the extra noise in it. Please Please Please help me find a way to fix this please??????![]()

change your osund compression to pcm 44,000 172k then in your mixer set your record level to half of the slyder bar.

record a silent bit of the tape before the main movie, then open up the wav file in cool edit (extract the wav with vdub> save to wav). Select the silent bit at the beginning, then go to transform>noise reduction. Get the profile from the selection. Don't click OK yet. Cancel out then select the entire wav (ctrl+a), set the amount of reduction to 60-70 %, then click ok. A long time later
save the wav. Then add this back to your original movie.
