  1. Sometimes when I burn a VCD with Nero and play them back on my Apex 703 DVD player the movie plays in black and white. I have others that burn and play fine. Anyone know Why this would happen.

Do you people BOTHER to search before posting?

BW output is because you VCD is a diffrent standard than your TV. You are either attempting to playback PAL on NTSC or NTSC on PAL.

  3. Now, if the problem is indeed the PAL/NTSC incompatibility, try hitting the P/N button on the Apex remote. If that fixes it, there isn't any problem.

  4. I did read the posting. Sry but from what I have read it sounded like all the vcds were playing in B&W I only have a few. Thanks for the help!
I will try that but last time I did it didnt help.
Also how do I know if a TV can play both?
Or can I change the format of the vcd so it will work?
I did read somthing about having to re-encode it. Will this work, or should I just buy a new TV.

If you are in europe you should be able to find a multi-system TV that supports NTSC ( US ). If in the US you need either a DVD player that can autoconvert or re-encode ( quality drop ).

FYI...on the 703, the button is labeled "SYSTEM".

If your TV is NTSC, push "SYSTEM" until NTSC appears on the screen and leave it there. With this setting, both NTSC and PAL discs should be outputted properly (in NTSC) to your TV>
