  1. Basically I copied my wedding video which was already on DVD and burnt both discs to make backups for family members. The DVD always worked fine in my DVD player. Lately its been skipping really bad so I figure its just our DVD player that has to be cleaned, not a problem. Well the original and the copies I made, play flawlessly in my DVD burner/rom. I also recently transfered a movie from our MiniDV Camcorder to DVD-R as well, and it skips in our DVD player but not in the DVD player. WEll last night I brought both the wedding copy, and the home movie transfer to someones house so I can see if it worked in their DVD player since its 6 months old . Well funny enough, DVD 1 of the wedding video wouldnt even load!! DVD 2 loaded but it would freeze every 5 seconds or so and you would see little squares, very odd. Yet the movie I made from the MiniDV played flawlessly. I recleaned the first DVD and it loaded but took forever and then couldnt even watch it as it was jumping around and freezing. I thought maybe its the DVD's I used since they are the cheapest I could find (tigerdirect). I don't get it.. I know someone on this board mentioned reencoding skipping DVD's or something. I just dont know. And to top it off a buddy of mine has given me 2 movies to copy for him and they play fine in his DVD player which is older than mine.

    any ideas?

I've got an idea, could it be that you used the cheapest media you could find?

Seriously though, don't use cheap media. There are countless posts on this forum about problems with cheap media. For a wedding video nothing but the best should be used. Try Taiyo Yuden (Fuji Film), TDK, Maxell, Pioneer or Apple. You will really want media from a company that stands behind their product. Avoid Verbatim and Memerox.

  6. I cant remember if I used Nero or what. Im gonna try again tonight and what program should I use to copy it? I guess if I rip it using DVD decrypter I should make it an ISO and then use nero.

    any other ideas?

You can rip to ISO and also burn using DVD Decrypter, which is what I would do if the disc's are 1 layer.

    DVD Decrypter>DVDShrink>CopyToDVD
