  1. I video weddings and have been looking for a digital storatge medium for the finished product rather than running back to digital tape onto the camera which causes head wear on the camera. I create a full project of between 2 and 3 hours in length using Miro DC30+ as capture and output card and Adobe premier as the editing software. Is putting the AVI file to VCD viable, how much data can I get on a single VCD, how do I then join 1 or more together, what kind of picture/sound quality and resolution will I get, will I be able to read the file back onto the PC to out back to VHS tape at a later date as most of my customers want VHS tape. Also is there a way of putting the project out onto CD's that are compatible with most household DVD players for reproduction onto a normal TV set while still retaining the original quality.
What will I need in terms of hardware and software over and above what I already have, which is a 1ghz athlon with 120gb disk space, 256mb ram, 52 speed CD rom. I appreciate I will need an VCD anyone know what would be suitable, would need SVCD or even XSVCD.

Many questions I know, but perhaps someone can help me out on this one.
    Thanks for any replies.

  2. Your system looks pretty impressive and shouldn't have any problem with the tasks, so i'll just go over the rest of your questions here:

    1) On a single VCD disc you can put either 74/80/90/99 min of movie, depending on the media (from 74min to 99)
    2) VCD Quality is comparable to VHS on most accounts, the most important part is, it lasts longer then any VHS.
    3) In order to put back the VCD into VHS again, you will need output from your PC to a VCR, for high quality you
would be better off using a Matrox Marvel G200/G400 or a RT2500 card as they have the best output quality.
    4) the most compatible form of playback is VideoCD, all DVD Players are capable of reading it, some may have a problem with the CDR media however.
