You don't give any details on the file, not even what type it is.

Virtual Dub can 'fix' AVI files, read the guides on bad frames. You can also try avifix, but it's crude and breaks as much as it fixes. MPEGFIX can fix MPEG files. There will be a hiccup where it cut's out the bad parts.

  13. duckie,

It to bad that no one could help you. But here is a chance to really learn
about your computer. What you have is an "Access Violation". If you don't know what that is then go to google and search for it.
You may also go to Microsofts web site and search "access violation".
This how we all have had to learn. As soon as you understand the error you will know what caused the system to crash.

    Happy learning

Look at the frame number in your picture where Virtualdub crashed, it's 34237. Open your file again in Virtualdub and edit out that portion of the movie. Use the edit>goto command to jump either side, mark the cut points then select edit>delete frames, set both the audio and video to direct stream copy then save avi. Scan the file for bad frames again and edit them out, if it crashes again redo the above.

There's a guide to editting with Vdub in the Edit section.

were on the image could you see where the bad frame was?
    >yeah, know I'm a n00b <

The bugger of it all, is that they don't detect rthe badframe when running a search for them.
So i can't detect them that usual way

  16. At the bottom of your picture, it gives the frame number, then the timestamp. If you read the guide here: https://www.videohelp.com/forum/userguides/142555.php it shows how to edit out bad frames. Regular VirtualDub will do it, no need for the mp3 version, unless you have audio sync problems as well.
