  1. 4.0gb of temporary internet files? I cant seem to get rid of these files. I have 38000 files. I have internet options set at 5 days history and 1226mb as space used. Why is it ignoring the limit I have set. ALso when I check the folder it says there are 38000 files yet the files shown are a few hundred at most. I am down to 700mb ??free space and shrinking..

DOH homer moment!!! delete internet files option!!!

  2. Just because you have your history set to 4 days doesn't mean that it always eletes those files after the 4 days has passed. You might have to manually delete them or use the disk clean up tool in windows. What OS do you have??

  3. You need to delete em manually from your c:\ > documets and settings > username \ local settings \ temp internet files

    Cntrl + a > shift + delete

If your on broadband set temp iNet files to 1 or 0 in other programs. Broadband is fast enough to get the page directly, and in 1 session pages will be loaded into memory and not stored on your disk which is 10times slower than memory.
I never use disk caching its so slow and decreases my browsing speed, i prefer to make use of my broadbands speed and isp's proxy servers. Plus its a waste of space too.

Just another MS programming incompitance, they should take a good hard look at linux with its memory caching.

  4. Files are gone now .. but actually what I tried to do was to delete them manually ..this was what failed. When I took the delete internet files option it did get rid of all 37000 files!! (4.3gb). OS xp and broadband.
