I have noticed that for most people the lower the bitrate the better - what I am after is a set of settings to create as perfect an
encode as possible. I know that the bit-rate for DVD is avg 5MB/s with a max of 9MB/s and the resolution is 720x576 (PAL) @ 25fps.
I have seen many references to smoothing video , GOP structure, bilinear this and that - many ways to improve the encoding process - so what is the best to do.
Does anyone know the standard settings for DVD to get the best encode from DV and also Hi8 (MJPEG) captures. The size of the file
is NOT important - quality is. Is there a website or link that can point me in the right direction or can someone help here.
As a continuing point on Quality - what is the best DV codec to use. When I capture DV footage on a Win98SE system I assume that it
is using the standard Windows DV codec - is there a better one for amateur use/
Many Thanks
Adam
