  1. I am reasonably new to DV. I have a 2.8G Intel, 800 FSB, matched 1G RAM, Sony multiformat DVD burner

My first task has been to try to convert my old VCRs to DVDs. So I connect my Sony DV camera to the VCR and capture an old VCR. Playback on the DV show that the captures works fine. Then I use Pinnacles Studio8 to capture to the PC via a firewire card. This is where the first problems appear. At the end of the hour long DV, there is an audio lag that has progressively worsened to 2 secs.

However if I capture using Windows Movie Maker, there is no noticable audio lag. But Studio8 won't read the .avi file! So I put the Windows Movie Maker into Roxio DVD builder. This then burns the DVD but again has about a 2 sec audio lag by the end of the hour long recording.

I have tried killing of all unnecessary background application using "Enditall2", but this does not help. I have liased with Pinnacles who know of this problem on "a few" PCs, but say they can't replicate the problem (I can ... every time!). I have tried a different firewire card. I also tried a programme called Sonic DVD, and still the audio lag.

From reading Pinnacles forum, the problem seems common when people try to capture from VCRs
    Can anyone help?

  2. You might try using ScenalyzerLive as the capture software from your existing vcr/vidcam/firewire setup... and make sure that ScenalyzerLive's options are set to capture type 2 dv.

Then, feed the resulting avi file on into pinnacle 8 for processing.

A trial ver of the app is available & 30 bucks if you are happy.

Yes I bought Scenalyzer and it captures without an audio lag. Thank you very much!
