  1. im trying to capture an analog device via my Sony DCR-TRV330 D8 camcorder. ive connected the analog device to my camcorder via the RCA jacks ( red yellow white ), and the camcorder to my computer via firewire. but when i try to capture the video with Windows movie maker, it only will capture whats on the tape in the camcorder, not from the analog device. and i cant transfer the video from the analof device to the camcorder's tape becuase when i tried it says copy inhibit on my camcorder. any ideas of how to capture from the analog device?

Is your pass through enabled on your camera?
    Hello.

  5. I don't know about the message "copy inhibit'. Is this a copy protected source?

I haven't had a need to change the setting, but I have read about it and have seen it in the camera's setup menu - there is a setting to enable or disable AV pass through.

try taking the camcorder tape out when you want to capture. and, is the camera in camera mode, or vcr mode?

  8. "Copy inhibit" sounds as though "write protect" tab is engaged on the tape in the camera.

Yes, go to page 74 of your owner's manual and follow the instructions. I really am starting to wander why this is so hard for you.

So does the camera pass the video on to your computer while recording on your tape? And AV In is selected, right?
    Hello.

  13. So you have a copy protected source and apparently the Sony reads the copy protection and refuses to copy or even play it. If that is the case, you need someway to bypass the copy protection - perhaps someone can help you with that.

  14. yes the camcorder passes the video from the VCR onto the computer. but i cant capture it becuase the computer wants to capture the tape in the camera not the one in the VCR. it says "copy inhibit" when i try to record the VHS tape onto the camcorder's tape. i hope that clears any confusion up. i want to capture the VHS tape in the VCR onto my computer but "windows movie maker" will only capture whats on the camcorder's tape. is there a way to get it to record from the VCR? or is there a different program that will capture from the VCR?

Have you tried to capture the DV with DVIO?
    Hello.

  16. Extract tape from camera, hook it up and check if when you play the VCR tape you can see the picture in cameras viewfinder or display if not correct settings on camera,

after that check your editors preview screen if video is present then capture it, if you try to use camera controls (play, pause, stop, etc.) they are not operational from editor o camera because you are only using the pass thru
    feature.

I have done some backups of my old movies that have macrovision with no problem when viewing after exporting to vcd or dvd.
Do not forget to turn on TBC if camera is equiped with a on/off option for it.

    Hope this help you.
