  1. I'm converting avi/xvid/divx to mpeg-2 and then multiplexing with ac3 audio converted from wav. I have 2 dvd standalones and niether of them play the dvd's with any sound. I have tried "all" types of +- dvds. I'm using a lasonic 1100 and a koss 210. In the reviews it said both of these players should be able to handle at least one of these. Is there any other type of audio that can be multiplexed with mpeg-2?

  2. I had this problem with the first avi~>dvd conversion I did. Ripped the .wav in VirtualDub, converted it in AC3Machine/BeSweet and no sound.... until I changed the reciever to "analog".

Since then I've been using the ffmpeggui and haven't had any problems at all. The output is digital sound and if your reciever has Dolby Pro Logic II, it'll handle the 5.1-channel simulation just fine.

ffmpeggui is free, so it's worth a shot. Invest in a few RW discs and let us know how it turns out.
