  1. I've had this USB mouse for a while, even before I had a USB-enabled PC. I recently got a laptop with 2 USB 2.0 ports and a Firewire port. Now all of the sudden the mouse stops working. I was fiddling around with the Mouse and USB troubleshooters and now the buttons work and the LED light stays on but moving the mouse doesn't move the cursor. Can anyone help me cause I'm going batty on the touchpad.

  2. I know how it's not cool to reply to my own topic, but the direction seems to work intermittently now. I don't know what to make of it.

I recently bought a new notebook computer and I was having problems with Microsofts IntelliPoint 5.0.

There is a conflict of drivers of IntelliPoint 5.0 with notebook's own touchpad driver and this includes for any USB mouse in use.

I warn the conflict can be severe if continue to install Microsoft's software with Notebook's Synaptics TouchPad software and driver already installed.

The Synaptics TouchPad application and drivers can work well for the external USB mouse as well as the Touch Pad.

I strongly advised not to install any additional mouse software and drivers in any laptop or notebook as this would cause problems and this can be severe.

My Wireless Cardbus Adapter was broken as a result of the IntelliPoint installation conflict. I got the adapter replaced after the HD re-formatted.

Anyway, Microsoft denied that IntelliPoint 5.0 was responsible for the damage and to me it does seem to be the case.

I now can't have both installed, IntelliPoint or Synaptics. The computer now tells me I must disable the touch pad app and the drivers before installing IntelliPoint 5.0. Don't ask me why this changed?

It is much better to leave as is and not add anything that would complicate. The USB mouse works well and this is the main thing.
