I have both these programs, and I am undecided as to which is the better way to backup dvds. They both compress video, and I can't really tell a difference between the two (except one you have to shell out cash for) Any thoughts?

it was an easy decision for me. DVDXCopy Platinum does not let you remove audio tracks in full disc mode. Shrink does this.

Platinum does not let you choose more than 1 audio track or subtitle in simple mode movie only. Shrink Does.

There are more reasons.... but this was enough for me to choose DVDShrink.

  3. Shrink because theres more optoins on how u copy he m ovie to hd and the fact that it is free is pretty good also that u can copy 1:1 with shrink and not with dvd xcopy plat.

  4. Hi all.

RKelly, I cannot honestly tell you which way is best when making DVD backups, but I can tell you DVD Shrink v3.1 (v3.2 coming out tomorrow) is much more flexible than any version of DVDXCopy.

I'd suggest you view the guides at www.dvdshrink.info to get a better idea of what DVD Shrink can do.
