  1. Is there a program out there that will compare the quality of two video files? (Or just give me the info & let me compare). Not visually, but actual hard facts about two videos.

I've been doing some stuff, and while it's supposedly not affecting the DVD quality, I just want to make sure. Maybe I'm just too new of a newbie, but when I find something too easy to be true in video editing, I start to have my doubts...and I just want some program to put my mind at ease.

    Thanks alot.

If you can't tell the difference by looking it doesn't matter does it ?
You can do all sorts of mathematical comparisons of videos
    but are they important ?
For example in audio you can analyse the phase distortion in
every amplifier . speaker , whatever and it looks bad , untill you
get a bunch of people to try to pick which sounds better and you
discover that humans are not sensitive to phase at all.

This is why color information is about a quarter of the bandwidth
of the luma and nobody seems to notice.

I have a 15 year old TV that I watch my DVD's on now. I plan on purchasing an HDTV in the future. Would I notice things on the HDTV that my current TV isn't capable of showing?

  7. The other poster...he's on the same page as I was thinking on. Right now, the qualiyt might not be noticable...but if I'm playing the new DVD on a progressive scan DVD player on a HDTV, quality decreases may be noticed?

Those HDTV's magnify alot of flaws in video. Now maybe the quality lose from several conversations & junk won't be enough to tell...i do'nt know. That is why I'm asking.
