SVCD/selectable subtitle with karaoke

Hi!

I am trying to author a SVCD with selectable subtitle that also includes some karaoke sections.

SSA-Script is ready (it was hard to find SSA, many links are broken or tell me to use SubTitleWorkshop; STW did not offer me what I wanted...)

The source video is an AVI.

VirtualDub can only create ficxed subtitles.

The MPEG was created with NERO, but WinSubMux does not like that format.

I tried VCDImager (also hard to find because of broken links) but the visual and audible result was horrible, so I did not try WinSubMax at all with this.

What is a good combination to create a high quality SVCD with selectable subtitles that contains karaoke?

Is there a tool that can work propperly with NERO-created SVCD-MPEGs

here is a litte update:

I was able to create SUBS, view and include them to the MPG win WinSubMux after having created the bItmaps with Maestro.

The created mpg was again verified with VCDeasy and it showed that the subs are there.

BUT the do not show up with the DVD-Player (standalone).

How can I verify that the subtitles have been successfully inserted?
