  1. I moved a Pinnacle PCTV Pro (PCI) card to a new PC (P4, 512 MB, WinXP) and now the recording stops when the file size reaches 4.5 GB. This happens on both scheduled and "on the fly" recordings.

The previous PC (Cel 2.0, 512 MB, WinXP) had no such problems.

    Any ideas ?

    Thanks,

    Jeff

What program are you using to capture?
What settings are you using when you capture?
Since your using WinXP, and the file size reaches 4.5GB, can we assume that your drive is NTFS?

  3. Using the software that came with the Pinnacle card. It's not anything fancy like Studio or some of their other software, I think it was made to work just with this card.

    Capturing in MPG2 format, 720 x 480, 6.0 mbps.

    Yes, drive is NTFS.

With the other PC I was able to capture files as large as 12 GB, never tried to record anything larger.

Card, software, etc. is all the same in this setup, the only difference is the PC.

I'm fairly new to this, so any help or suggestions you have are greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Jeff

  4. Is timeshift activated ? Maybe you need to raise the amount of space for it - or deactivated it.

  5. Timeshift is not active, I made sure of that when I installed the software on the new PC.

Does this happen when you capture with other settings, like VCD, SVCD, or custom (with other types of compression), etc.?

And you've tried re-installing the software? That was probably one of the first things you tried, I just thought I'd mention it anyway...

  7. I've re-installed the program (you're right, first thing I tried), same problem.

I haven't tried other file types (VCD, etc.) since moving the card. It would take about 7 hours though for a standard VCD mpg to get to 4.5 GB.

I have tried custom MPG2 settings, varying the resolution and mbps, same thing happens, recording stops at 4.5 GB in size.

Hmmm. And that's with the PCTV Vision software? What version are you running?

  9. The startup screen says 2.65 but elsewhere it reports 5.20.
