  2. whats up cristian? let me tell you i have ME. ME has whats called FAT32 which only allows up to a certain file limit. i have tried everything except reinstalling. someone on here said to format the drive to _______ but i don't remember what it was and even then i don't know if it would work with WinME. maybe when someone reads this they can tell us which OS doesn't have the FAT32 cause i don't remember. i sure as heck would like to capture unlimited.....

  3. AVI files have a 2 Gb size limit.
There is no solution to that.
Most applications work around this limit by creating a new file every 2Gb.

  5. Alucard2050 you are probably thinking NTFS (Windows 2000,XP, NT)

Try capturing with Virtual Dub using the multi-segment capture option (set it up for file no bigger than 2gb)
If you have more than 1 HD you can also use the spill-over function

Hi and thank you all for your support.
Anyway, I've been told that VirtualDub isn't as great as AVI_IO. Don't you know if AVI_IO will capture the same way as VirtualDub?

  8. AVI_IO captures multisegment like virtualdub and has a nice feature which puts dropped frames as full frames (makes it easier for programs to read the avi). You can also open up all AVI_IO the segments automatically in virtualdub and then framserve to something else. Virtualdub gives you more control though.

  10. avi_io has a free 30 day trail (has some limitations though)

  11. I thought the limit was 4 gig. I've captured several files 3 gigs and up. I currently have two 2+ gig avi's on my harddrive. Maybe it's a WinME/98 limitation. My 3 gig captures have been on a Win2000 OS.

That is true.. To a point. Old style avi codecs have a 2GB limit. OpenDML avi codecs, on the other hand, have no such limit. HuffYUV, for example, works fine up to around 5GB (and then chokes.. prob due to a bug)

  13. NTFS may remove the 2-4 Gig AVI file restriction...but a new ballpark opens up regarding video capture card drivers...W2k is notorious for this...i hope this prob is rectified in XP
