Hiya,
I have the Asus V7700 Pro Deluxe card, which is a GeForce2 with a Chrontel 7007 capture chipset. After a year of hassle-free capturing on 2 different Asus mobo's, the A7V and the A7V-266E, the latter mobo has failed and I've replaced it with an Abit AN7. Now I can't seem to get the drivers to install properly in order to do capturing. There's nothing wrong with the hardware as I can use Asus Live and in non-capture mode I get the signal from the card.
The exact problem I'm seeing is that when I try to install the video for windows driver (note: the wdm drivers install fine), I get conflicts occuring with my main display driver reporting device does not have enough resources to run. Code 12 (knocking my display to the plain VGA driver) and the wdm capture/crossbar drivers screw up and become unknown devices. If I uninstall the unknown devices the conflict seems to resolve and I get my graphics card working again, but my capture card/crossbar drivers have the yellow exclamation with the message device cannot be started. Code (10).
So far I've tried:
- to free up as many system resources as I can, i.e. disabling various onboard devices to try and make resources available, but the graphics card doesn't want to use them. It appears to be on its own IRQ, so there should be no conflicts with any other devices. I've even disabled the IRQ for the graphics card, though it seems to have ignored it and assigned one anyway.
- installing every device driver I could lay my hands on for the graphics card, wdm capture drivers, and the mobo chipset drivers, i.e. supplied cd versions of drivers, the latest, nvidia reference drivers, manufacturer drivers - none of them have made any difference.
- checking my voltages (the 3.3v in particular), which seem to be fine.
- backdating directx to version 8 (the one that came with the V7700).
- different capture software, i.e. VirtualDub, iuVCR, Asus Live.
There was one driver update I couldn't lay my hands on, which is the vfw->wdm wrapper driver in question which is causing all these problems. I've seen it advertised in other postings, but the links haven't worked, so if someone can point me to them, I'd appreciate it so I can try them.
The only other thing I can think to try is to disable the ACPI system so that windows is no longer in control of resource assignments. But this is a drastic step that I would rather not take, and I would like to exhaust all other avenues first.
Please refer to my profile for info about my hardware. I'm using win2k. One change of note is that I used to have an sblive and a realtek8139 ethernet as separate PCI cards, but I'm now using the onboard soundstorm and realtek8201 ethernet.
Any help appreciated
FokeyJoe

Since my last post I have fixed the wdm drivers. Using the advice given at http://www.tek-tips.com/gviewthread.cfm/lev2/66/lev3/68/pid/749/qid/155668 I've installed the WDM 1.08 drivers and these work with win2k. It means that I can do capturing in DVCR and iuVCR.
But I'm still no closer to getting the vfw->wdm wrapper installed. Most people advise against using this, but it would be handy for me to be able to do this. Has anyone else had this problem?
