hi all,
this is my first posting here! I have a question in converting a dvd to a vcd formatte disc that can be played in vcd player. I have search the forum and usually dvd were converted to .mpeg. But to me, i would really like to know how can i convert the dvd to vcd formatte which contain these these folders:-
1. EXT
2. MPEGAV
3. SEGMENT
4. VCD
* Could anyone tell me the correct term to call this kinda conversion? Thank
I have a short advertising dvd actually but i would like to change the formatte to VCD player formatte disc. I have DV Master tape with me but i do not have the equipment to do the task. I tried to ask production house to help, and the give me a big bang on the cost and also they can't make it on time because it's festive season in my place and everyone are rushing for festive season work.
I would really need advice on how can i change the formatte using software on the market. Please recommend. I have a dvd-rom on my pc and cd-rw too... If i can make use of this with software, that would be much appreciated.
I know this is pretty long, and you MIGHT be ASLEEP by now...
Thank you...

Before authoring, the DVD has, as you've noticed, to be converted to mpeg1.
For complete descriptions of various methods for this process, see the Convert section left, DVD to VCD.

hi... it's me again!
I have went to he "HOW TO CONVERT" and "HOW TO DVD RIP" but can't get the info i need on converting.
I hope someone can provide some info related to software that i need and also the procedure. If in the "HOW TO" section does have the instruction, could you please provide s link in you reply. I have been searching for it, but still can't get the right info.
As to describe more of my situation, here goes:
I have a DVD with the following folder in it:-
1. VIDEO_RM
2. VIDEO_TS
with the following file extension .vob and .bup
I need to convert it to (s)vcd or vcd that can be player on VCD player either version 2.0 or etc. If i'm not mistaken, i would need to convert it to a formatte with the following folder:_
1. EXT
2. MPEGAV
3. SEGMENT
4. VCD
Thanks.
It's there any software that can precisely convert the above situation. If there is, could anyone please recommend.
And also, why are some vcd files contain the below folder:
1. CDI
2. MPEGAV
3. SEGMENT
4. VCD
5. KARAOKE
6. CDDA
Could anyone please help me with these?
Thank you very much.
p/s: I have already go thru the guide section. Please don't refer me back there again. I'm not so technically savvy about conversion and authoring, but am learning it slowly. If in the guide section do have the solution, please put a link in your reply coz I really can't seem to find my solution there. -
Right, the folder on the DVD you need to be concerned with is the VIDEO_TS one. You will need Smartripper or DVD Decrypter to rip the DVD files to your hard drive (make sure you have up to 9 gigs of free space) open the ripped .vob files with DVD2AVI and get your .d2v and wav audio converted. Then load these into TMPG and load the VCD (either PAL or NTSC depending on where the original DVD came from - USA=NTSC ... EVERYWHERE ELSE=PAL) template and hit START. After some hours you will end up with a VCD compliant MPEG1 video file. This can then be burnt using the VCD setting in NERO. You will really need a guide to get the full explaination, but what I've listed above are the main highlights!
