  1. Just tried running a Div X file (legally) on my computer when the following message appeared.

The video file you are opening includes an Audio Codec which is not recognised bt the Div X player. The file contains the following type of data

    Audio data tag 8192.

You may need to install a new audio codec on your computer...

Note : This is also the same message I get when using Microsoft Win Med Player, my DVD (Through Power DVD) and RealOne.

Where do I get the bloody codecs from.

Tried the programme GSPOT and that doesn't work.

  2. Could be AC3, open the file in virtualdub and click on file - information. What does it say about the audio stream.

  3. Is the video divx 3.11 by any chance. The divx 3.11 audio codedc (like the video codec) is a hack of a microsoft codec. Many 3.11 encodes used a different audio codec, but if you have one that used the 3.11 audio codec and you play it in WMP, then WMP tries to download and install a MS codec, which will not work with this audio, but it overwrites the one that came with the 3.11 installer.

Solution, re-install the divx 3.11 codec and DO NOT use WMP for 3.11 files.
