  1. Hi All

I just purchased the Lite-On 411S after reading the good reviews in the forums. My first DVD burn using CDRWin 5 (I could not work out how to use CUE and BIN to write in Nero 6) was going well until at the end I got the following error "Illegal field in command descriptor block". Can anyone spread any light on what this may be. I was at the time burning a PS2 BIN file backup. I was using one of the DVD+R disks that they give you free with the drive so maybe its the cheap media. I brought some Memorex DVD-R disks and will try them if no-one has any other ideas except for media

    Thanks in advance

I think you already figured it out but just in case, to burn a cue and bin file in Nero you need to go to the file menu and select "Burn Image". Then use the CUE file and not the bin.

As you said, the problem could be your media. Outside of that maybe you have a bad image. Were there any read errors when you created the image file while backing up your game?

  3. Unless the new firmware that came out today works some miracles, i would not use nero with the LiteOn-411s. I own one and Nero has some MAJOR issues with it (ive also heard tons of other people who report the same thing).

  4. Soory for the confusion I was using CDRWin5 and not Nero 6. However once I used one of the Memorex DVD-R's I did not get the error. However the backup did not work in my PS2. I have been reading that CDRWin and PS2 are not a good match. Can anyone advise me as to a good software to use to burn PS2 DVD's. I have Nero 6 if that is a good match but if there is a better product please advise.

Just to confirm in Nero6 all I do is drag in the cue file and it should stay set at DVD and not change to CD

    Thanks in advance

Alcohol 120% is a great backup tool for both creating and burning images of may types like .cdi, .mds, .ccd, as well as .cue and .iso images.

I use Nero with the 411S and I have had no problems backing up my DVD disks. All my movies play fine in both the PC and my stand alone player. Best advice I can give is to make sure Nero is updated to the latest 6.3.0.2 version.

  7. Update

I am now trying to use Alcohol 120% Vers 1.4.8. I use the image burning wizard and select my cue file. The write speeds only give me an option of 16X or 31X (which is worrying). However when I click the start button a Waiting for disc screen appears which refreshes to say Empty DVD. So it confirms that I have an empty DVD disc in the drive and then it just sits there. I have left it for over 3 minutes and nothing happens.

    Any clues anybody

    Thanks

Sorry if this is a dumb question but are you sure you clicked on Image Burning Wizard and not Image Making Wizard?
