  1. Does anyone know a freeware or shareware program (for windows) that can export edited footage back onto a camera using firewire?

I've been using Windows Movie Maker for this simple task but lately its been a bit screwy.

  3. I do not know about your video editor but Premiere can export to camera, you can try DVIO, first output a DV file from your editor if possible.

  4. Been testing a few different programs and it seems to be either an error with a driver or the camera itself that stops footage being exported back onto the DV camera.

    Thanks for the help guys.

Check the specs of you camcorder. If I'm not mistaken, there are very few camcorders that have DV-in enabled outside of North America.

Edit - sorry, forgot you used movie maker to do it before

WinDV at https://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=285#comments works great. I have been using it with my Sony digital and love it. And it is freeware, I only wish some programs I've paid for worked this well!!!!!
