hello People,
I just recently bought a DV Camera off a friend and have done some cool videos and stuff with it for college becuase im doing video editing.
ive kept the movie clips on my PC and basically i want to buy a DVD RECORDER STAND ALONE so i can use my PC OUTPUT video card S-video, to record onto DVD discs.
What is the best recorder to buy for under £300 pounds.....
Also is it possible to copy from a DVD+R disc and copy to DVD-R using a PC DVDRW?
i know i can covert the film clips on my PC but i need to know if this proccess will work and how well......
Thank u for ur help!!!

I am confused by stand alone DVD Recorder = do you mean a set top box type or an external PC type ?
There is no need to output from your graphics card. If you already have the movies on your hard drive you can use an internal or external PC DVD burner, author DVDs and burn away !. You should be able to copy +R to -R with this also.If in doubt, Google it. -

Follow jimmalenko's advise: take the video in your PC, author it to DVD, and finally burn it to DVD+R or DVD-R. DVD burners are much cheaper than DVD recorders. -
As i said Earlier i KNOW I CAN do it from the PC BUt it takes a LOOOOOOOONNNNGGGGG time to convert a file to Mpeg2 format.
It can take up to 10 hours for a 2 hour movie clip to convert BEFORE authoring which is disgustingly time consuming when i need to use my PC a lot of the time.
If i had a stand alone DVD it would take 2 hours!
And thats just 1 Edit or clip, imagine i had 70 to do!
Its not as if i have a slow PC either becuase its decent and has a massive HDD and memory.
So if i did buy a Standalone DVD and use the S-VIDEO out from my pc into the S-VIDEO in on the Standalone DVD i would lose a LOT of quality?
Or just a bit?
a lot of myclips will be sent abroad to friends and family so i will be doing a fair few... -
I thought you already have a DVD compliant MPEG2 files on your PC. In that case, you should definitely get a standalone DVD recorder. A couple of weeks ago, the Philips DVDR75 was on sale for £200. You should get good picture quality going from your PC's S-video output to the standalone DVD recorder's S-Video input.

You will not have any questions regarding loss of quality then.
The output can only be as good as your source - If you captured at VCD specs then it is only going to be this good.If in doubt, Google it. -
lol , doesnt matter.
I HAVE A PC DVDRW, thats what i would use to copy the movies that i would of copied on the standalone dvd..
AAWW man no -one understands.. ONE LAST TRY::::
I HAVE A PC WITH A DVDRW IN IT::
I want to buy a stand alone DVD recorder so i can use my PCs video output card to record movie clips in realtime.
basically so i dont have to convert clips i have on my PC into different formats (from AVI to MPG2) on my pc becuase it takes along time ( so i can play them on a DVD Player).
But what will the quality be like.... PC OUTPUT (s-video) DVD recorder Input S-Video.???????
If u are still confused my problem is TMPGENC takes around 6 - 8 hours to convert a hour and a half movie.
Doing it this way ^^^^ would only take the length of the film............. -
G ILT PLEASURE - Thanks thats what i needed to know!
Thanks anyway everyone else for trying to help!
And im not being sarcastic there either! Cheers!.. -
