  1. Has anyone had trouble with forwarding and rewinding DVD's made with standalone recorders?

I have a Sansui VRDVD4005. When I playback the recorded DVD's in other DVD players it won't forward or rewind properly. It pauses but still forwards and rewinds. In other words you can't see where it's going in order to resume play at the part you want. It does work sometimes on the slowest speed X2 but once you go pass that it stays still.

Please dont take this personally but you get what you pay for cheap dvd recorders like that are very unstable and usually are made of poor quality. I had a panasonic dmr-e20 and now I got the e80H and believe me the quality is very good..And lastly what kind of media did you use and what medis speed was it .We need more info so we can help you..

  3. louthewiz,
Thanks for your reply. Believe me when I saw the name Sansui I was a bit hesitant. I actually started a thread (a while back) asking if anyone knew anything about this recorder. The response was quite good that it lead me to buy it. I have no problem with the quality I think it's great.
The good thing about this machine is that it's an all in one. VCR/DVD recorder. Very easy to dub VHS to DVD-R/RW. After futher testing, I found that 3 out of 4 DVD players have the problem that I originally posetd. Those 3 DVD players are older then the 4th that I tried. The 4th one didn't have this problem so i'm leaning torwards believing that it's a compatibility problem. As for Media, I use a lot of different kinds and let me just say that I don't spend cheap change for them. Taiyo Yuden, Mitsui, Panasonic, Prodisc etc...... No cheap stuff.
